FEAR & WRITING
Sunday, November 14, 2021
2:00-4:00 PM Pacific Time
Hosted by the 2021 Portland Book Festival & Literary Arts
Telling a writer to write without fear is like telling a human to breathe without oxygen. It’s impossible to do and why would you want to? Fear is a natural part of the creative process. Instead of fighting it, work with it. Through stories, mindfulness, and free-writing, you will discover simple, realistic ways to face your fear, get to know it, and use it to propel your writing, rather than hinder it. With fear on your side, there’s nothing stopping you from being the writer you want to be. This workshop will be taught via Zoom. It is available for live attendance and will not be recorded. This is the last time Peg will teach Fear & Writing, so if you’ve been thinking about it, don’t delay–register today!
TAROT WRITING PROMPTS
Hosted by Peg Cheng & Anja Schüler-Renner
October 24, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Pacific Time
? You’ve always been told to keep your skeletons hidden in the closet. ?
? Halloween is the time to get them out. ?
On Halloween, the veil between the living and the dead thins out. The magical energy of this time of the year is perfect for exploring the darker side of yourself.
The shadow self is all your negative emotions and impulses that you might not want to admit exist. It has many different aspects, including anger, sadness, fear, insecurity, self-hatred, or just feeling left out. When met with compassion and understanding, your shadow self can be the key to unlocking untold riches inside you. When you face your shadows openly, you get an opportunity to heal and move forward in life with more confidence and understanding of who you are.
Tarot Writing Prompts can be a key to open up the mystical realms of your subconscious. So bring a pen and notebook, and get ready to step into the dark with other like-minded folks.
We will begin with a breathing exercise to help us relax and focus on the present moment. Then, we’ll draw a tarot or oracle card, discuss the imagery on the card, and give an on-the-spot writing prompt or question to answer. After each timed writing session, we will chat about what came up for us. Participation in the chat is entirely optional.
This workshop is taught via Zoom so you can attend from anywhere in the world. ✨ This workshop is available for live attendance ONLY, and will not be recorded. The magic is in the meeting. ✨

Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM Pacific Time
Hosted by the Radical Creativity Retreat from September 10-12, 2021
Do you want to create but aren’t sure what to create?
Do you long to write a book or novel but can’t pin down a topic?
Do you start lots of creative projects but never finish them?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you’re in the right place to take Creative Cues, a workshop about how to get clues from the Universe about what you should create next. Using examples from her life as an author, entrepreneur, and tarot enthusiast, Peg Cheng will guide you through three ways to listen, observe, and understand what the Universe is trying to tell you. You will learn how to choose the creative project that’s the right fit for yourself right now and finally finish what you start.
Creative Cues is one of six workshops being taught at the Radical Creativity Retreat. The organizer of the retreat, my good friend, author Lauren Sapala, will be doing an opening ceremony on Friday evening, September 10, and a closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon, September 12. There will be three workshops on Saturday, September 11, and three workshops on Sunday, September, 12. Generous breaks are scheduled between each workshop so you have time to stretch, get something to eat or drink, and absorb what you just learned.
The workshops are taught live on Zoom but will also be recorded. So if you can’t make it in person, you’ll still be able to watch later and get all the creative goodness.

HELLO FUTURE SELF
Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Pacific Time
Hosted by the INF Club
In her book, REBEL MILLIONAIRE, Peg Cheng shares how at age 25, while making less than $19,000 a year, she started saving small bits of money for retirement. 24 years later, she’s well on her way to becoming a millionaire at 65. What caused Peg to start saving and to keep saving? It wasn’t due to having more brains or luck or self-esteem. It was something else entirely: her relationship with her Future Self. In this inspiring workshop, you’ll learn how Peg built financial independence through time travel and how you can too. This workshop will be taught live online via YouTube and will not be recorded.

WRITERS WELLNESS RETREAT
a day of mindfulness, movement & expression
Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific Time
Embrace the Moon, Seattle, WA
Retreat led by Peg Cheng and Qigong taught by Kim Ivy
Writing can be a lonely and scary art form. Facing the blank page day after day requires courage and tenacity. Still, writers don’t give themselves enough credit for the challenging emotional and intellectual work they do time and time again, and instead, they often criticize themselves for not writing enough or for not writing better.
This is why the Writers Wellness Retreat was created. It’s a day for like-minded writers to come together and reclaim or begin a practice of self-care for greater creativity and productivity. Through meditation, use the power of breath to practice mindfulness. Through guided writing exercises, discover your innermost desires and purpose as a writer. Through qigong, move your body to promote relaxation, intuition, and greater flow of energy. Through sharing stories, gain perspective and enjoy camaraderie with fellow writers.
Experience all of this at Embrace the Moon, a healing and beautiful space. Refreshments, tea, and self-care goody bags will be provided. Lunch is on your own at one of Ballard’s many restaurants or you can bring your lunch.
