I’m delighted to let you know I’m teaching Fear & Writing for the 2021 Portland Book Festival!
This year, the Portland Book Festival will be a hybrid event with virtual events from November 8-13 and in-person events on November 13. After attending lots of inspiring author events, join me the day after the festival for my Fear & Writing workshop on Sunday, November 14, from 2:00-4:00 PM Pacific Time. I’m teaching it via Zoom so you can attend from anywhere in the world.
This is the LAST TIME I will be teaching this workshop. That’s right–the last time. It’ll actually be the eighth time I’ve taught Fear & Writing, and while I have loved teaching it every time, I’ve reached a point in my path where it feels right to close the chapter on this workshop. So, if you’ve thought about attending Fear & Writing before but still haven’t, now’s your chance to do it.
Here’s some feedback I received from past students.
Peg was a great teacher. She had experienced the fear of writing so was able to talk about it from a place of having worked through it. She was able to give good suggestions, shared her love of writing, and was very encouraging!
Peg Cheng was an excellent instructor. A good balance of honest, helpful instruction, along with writing prompts that really helped me tap into my fears, and I found myself enjoying putting pen to paper again.
The topic, Fear and Writing, felt extremely relevant personally. I am grateful to Peg for sharing her experience and lessons so generously. I find myself utilizing her suggestions daily!
Peg, taking part in your course was such a pleasure and it motivated me. I had some fears regarding my current novel and plan on using some of the techniques you taught us. I could see that all the participants really were benefiting and grateful for your advice. You have a great way of explaining everything with such wonderful examples.
Fear & Writing (online workshop)
Sunday, November 14, 2021
2:00-4:00 PM Pacific Time
Hosted by the 2021 Portland Book Festival & Literary Arts
Telling a writer to write without fear is like telling a human to breathe without oxygen. It’s impossible to do and why would you want to? Fear is a natural part of the creative process. Instead of fighting it, work with it. Through stories, mindfulness, and free-writing, you will discover simple, realistic ways to face your fear, get to know it, and use it to propel your writing, rather than hinder it. With fear on your side, there’s nothing stopping you from being the writer you want to be. This workshop will be taught online via Zoom. It is available for live attendance ONLY, and will not be recorded. The magic is in the meeting.
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
Peg Cheng (she/her) is a writer and educator living in Seattle, Washington.
